Masked Attire
As I was sitting in the airport this morning it seemed like everyone had to sneeze or clear their throat. Oh I hoped it was only allergies or the musty airport terminal air. Everyone had that one special travel item to get them through the flight. The business man to my right had his laptop, the two single woman with their 5 inch heels (traveling is hard enough, without heels!) and me with my lovely, thick, white face mask.
In these swine flu times I put my mask on after buckling my seat belt. I don't do it before because there are just too many concerned faces. I admit when I see a masked person I don't think they are trying to protect themselves. I think they have something and stay the hell away from me. And this is what I proceeded to tell the oh so awkward man sitting next to me. I don't think he really followed what I said. "That's fine," he replied. The woman across the aisle just smiled. Once again making people uncomfortable one day at a time.
I'm not just wearing this mask because of the swine flu, I wear them every time I fly. That air is just brimming over with microorganisms that will get caught in my thick mucus like a fly to fly paper. It will sit in there and create an infection. I hate wearing them. They are so hot. I wear them because taking preventative measures makes me feel better and if I do end up sick at least I could say I tried. Now off to see grandma!!
PS I really was hoping for an awesome encounter while wearing my mask....there is always the return flight :D
