Thankful for Words
Words are fascinating. Words give shape and meaning to sound. Words carry all types of emotion. They inspire or condemn, they show love or shout hate. Letters strung together to form words to form sentences to form stories, it is an ever evolving process.
I am thankful that I am able to communicate with words. I am thankful that I am capable to express my heart and mind through written script and spoken word. At the very least I can share my words. My heart and mind can be known.
I am thankful for the opportunity of education. As painful as English class was, I am very blessed to know how to speak and write a language. Speaking is something I take for granted at times. How I wish I was selective with my words and other times upset that I did not speak more.
I am thankful for all the written words of encouragement of cards, letters, texts and emails from friends and family. I am thankful for the words of constructive criticism, the words of joy of being accepted to college, the sorrow of the announcement of my grandparents death. The words that spelled out my diagnosis to the words that exclaim a new drug discovery. I am thankful for the living word of God to the inspiring words of my favorite authors. Quotes, jokes and antecedence, phrases that get me through my day. The post-it notes filled with words stuck to my desk that speak to my soul. I am thankful for written words because of the visual it gives to sound. I am thankful for words because of their endless possibilities.
