Cipro, my friend
Who needs 12 days of Christmas when you can have 14 days of Oral Antibiotics! My true doctor gave to me, Cipro! My dear friend and I have spent several holiday seasons together. The only difference about this time is I don't feel sick! My PFT's went back down to levels around in June when I was hospitalized. After an x-ray and a review of several reports of blood in my sputum, my doctor announced with holiday cheer I was having an exacerbation! Seriously?!?!?! NO FEVER, NO WEIGHT LOSS, NO COUGH. The only sick symptom I've experienced was tiredness and I thought that was from being so awesome!
Little did I know that my small airways were all clogged with very dry and thick mucus. The bacteria had settled in for hibernation without informing me! No shallow breathing, nothing. I would really appreciate a sign lungs! I thought I had finally figured out how to work in the public and not get sick! The Santa Ana's have been bullying my sinuses on and off, but even that has been less severe. Maybe all my anti bacterial practices have just lessened the severity. My doctor is hoping the Cipro will break up enough junk that my treatments and the restart of Cayston will get more air to the end of the bronchi.
I looked at my doctor with quizzical eyes and asked, how the heck am I suppose to tell I'm sick, if I don't cough?!?!?! He said some patients don't cough, that's why they monitor us so closely.....So we will see you in two weeks and determine if you need to go into the hospital for a tune up. Oh joy to the world...
