I'm back home!!
Wow its been a long time...I gained all my weight back and went off to have a good time! I've become quite a talker due to weekly counseling sessions, attempts at networking (kind of scary, but I need work) and keeping up with my friends far far away! Apparently, I have a knack for long distance friendships. I've given up on the people around here they are too busy for me. It's been rough on my self esteem and social calendar not having a group to call my own here in the OC. Keeping up with the LA friends is also a little difficult due to my laziness about driving up there. The past couple of months have been about regaining my confidence and finding the place I want to call home. Writing on here hasn't been a priority because I've been writing a lot to myself, so sparing you from the scattered and racing thoughts. So I'll give you a quick synopasos of where I'm coming from and where I am going...
I visited Dallas, TX (GO RANGERS!)for two weeks and Houston (family) for one week in August/September. I am seriously considering a move to Dallas due to friends, family and lifestyle. Its Texas, do I really need to explain? Nice people, good food, lower cost of living, nice people. Dallas has a lot going for it in the wellness field, there are loads of company headquarters that need worksite health promotion programs. Texas is well organized in community health initiatives too. I was interviewing for a cool internship, but the conditions were not the best for me. I've applied for a couple other positions but nothing yet. More on this later
My part time job, CF, can be described as a slow but steady recovery. Yoga and swimming have been going well, until last week, when I awoke screaming and crying due to lower back pain. My doctor told me to go to the ER thinking I had kidney stones....5 hours later and sharing a room with a woman who also was complaining of pain, possibly due to her being pregnant, I was sent home with pain killers. All my stats were normal and I had unexplainable back pain. I left before we found out if the woman was pregnant! So I relaxed for a few days numbing the pain. The problem with having a chronic cough is your muscles never get to fully rest.
My last CF clinic appointment resulted in giving up coliston (inhaled antibiotic)and signing up to try the newest inhaled drug cayston. This bad boy was designed to be inhaled in 2-3 minutes with its very high tech nebulizer cup that is run by a sophisticated controller. I am impressed so far, the extra time it saves me on treatments makes up for the major down side that I have to do it 3 times a day and do some serious sterilization. More on this later, I said this was going to be quick.
My grandma stayed with us a whole month...she is 94. Sadly our family is trying to figure out who she is going to live with because she needs someone with her 24/7. Its been a rough year for her, but I think she enjoyed living with us. I liked having her here most of the time. I'm sad to say though her presence was a toll on my mental state. Seeing someone not function well on their own made me really sad and scared. Just when I'm trying to launch myself into fully functioning adult mode, I see someone becoming more and more less capable. It brought up a lot of issues I have with my own mortality and health condition.
Other than that I made an awesome strawberry-rhubarb pie ( my grandma JoJo would be proud), set up an amazing Alice in wonderland tea-garden 25th birthday party in the bay area, witnessed the magnificence of the new Texas Cowboys Stadium, enjoyed the beach in October, launched the diabetes center, and eaten some really good gluten free food.
See ya around the neighborhood (trying to stay with the girl next door theme;)
