Yooooooga

The miracle exercise. I thank the Lord for those Yogis that studied the body and all its connections shaping your body like animals and things. Wow our bodies are amazing! How great is God to take such care and consideration when designing us. I know I'm mixing faiths here but we all believe in quieting our hearts, mind and soul. We all understand the peaceful rest that we need.

I have gone to 3 yoga classes in a week! You can't have personal space issues at this studio, people's mats are inches from mine! It is nice that we have broken that personal space bubble, but everyone is so serious before class. They go into child's pose or resting on their back with closed eyes. Yeah, yeah your time, quiet time, but I like to smile at people or just a friendly hello at the beginning especially if your gaze might be at my butt at some point. Usually people are focused on themselves, the floor, the ceiling or the teacher so I have never felt conscious about what I look like. I don't like coughing in class though, but I am so grateful that I have just had to clear my throat at class. Right now my lungs seem super clear and yoga is not dislodging any mucus balls. I bring a towel and water so I'm prepared for coughing. The towel to cover the cough and the water for others not to feel uncomfortable that I need water when I really don't. I can always leave the room, but still I get nervous since I don't talk to the people around me. Although I need to let that go, I don't need to explain myself to everyone. Anyway my legs are like slinkys walking down the stairs after class. The studio is up on the second floor of this office building that is like a big tree house with different levels and stairs. I guess the stairs are that 10 second bonus exercise but I would prefer it to be on the first floor. Going up a flight of stairs gets my heart pumping and I really don't like that feeling. And then walking down with my rubber band legs is very unsettling.

Oh how I have missed Yoga, why oh why has it taken me so long to return to the beautiful practice. If you are not taking Yoga, I highly recommend it. Like seriously it could change your life. Start basic, extremely slow and learn how to move within poses and feel the muscles working. Aaahhhh, it helps the breathe so much. It is all about breathe for me. Being extremely conscious of expanding my lungs with movements is so nice. Yoga is comforting to me because I know it is extremely good for my body. The spinal twists for cleansing, the inversions for reverse blood flow and the strong attention to muscles. I feel like I'm treating myself, pampering my lungs during yoga. I can't wait to go back on Thursday!!
